Celtic Crossroads Canberra 2002
Celtic Songstress set for Canberra Crossroads
One of the most talented singer songwriters to emerge in a long
time, Maria Forde, is set to perform in Canberra at the inaugural
presentation of Celtic Crossroads, during the October long weekend,
4th and 5th October
2002. Maria Forde boasts an impressive list of credits, having
won such awards as Best New song at the Dun Laoghaire song Contest
Ireland, Irish Songwriters award at the Keadue music festival Ireland, and
runner up in the Glinsk Song contest
Ireland, for her song “Faces in the Photograph”. Maria Forde has performed with international
artists including The Furey’s, Foster and Allen, Kieran Gross, and Daniel
O’Donnell. The Furey’s have recorded one of Maria’s songs “Waltzing
Matilda my Darling”. In 2001 Maria performed the Irish national anthem before the Australia vs Ireland football match at Adelaide Football
Park. Maria Forde will join with an all star line up at Celtic
Crossroads Canberra in two performances only, at Canberra Stadium
on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th October 2002, in an event presented by the producers of the highly acclaimed Australian
Federation Tattoo. Other artists on the bill include, from New Zealand,
the internationally acclaimed City of Invercargill Caledonian Pipe
Band, who have appeared at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo Scotland, and
the renowned Nova Scotia Tattoo in Canada. Maria Forde will feature material from her top selling latest
album Rough Diamond, and join with a huge array of visiting and international artists including, The Celtic
Highlanders Massed Pipes and Drums, The Australian Federation Tattoo Irish
Dancers and The Adelaide Celts Broadsword Dancers
